2015 Subaru Forester Specs - Serving the Harrisonburg, Staunton, and Waynesboro, VA Areas

If you're in the market for a compact sedan, then you are probably considering the 2015 Subaru Forester and Honda CR-V. At Bob Wade Autoworld, we believe that the 2015 Subaru Forester beats the 2015 Honda CR-V when it comes to price, comfort, convenience, safety and security. Not only does the Subaru Forester start at a lower overall MSRP, but it also provides drivers with many standard features that are either optional or unavailable in the CR-V, such as all-wheel drive. If you're in the market for an SUV that is more than capable on and off the road, then the legendary Subaru Forester is right SUV for you.

Price

With a base MSRP of $22,195, the 2015 Subaru Forester is less costly than the base Honda CR-V LX, which has a base MSRP of $23,445. While all-wheel drive (AWD) is standard in every Subaru Forester model, it is unavailable in the Honda CR-V LX. This makes the Subaru Forester the better choice for individuals and families that like to travel and participate in outdoor activities. While the CR-V gets slightly more horsepower than the Forester, the Forester beats the CR-V in terms of torque, with 174 lb-ft of torque at 5,800 rpm compared to 163 lb-ft of torque at 4,400 rpm in the CR-V. The Forester is also equipped with a bigger fuel tank, a taller wheelbase, is longer, and provides better fuel economy than the CR-V.

Comfort and Convenience

Step inside the 2015 Subaru Forester and you will notice 6-way manually adjustable driver's seat, 60/40 split flat-folding rear seatbacks, analog speedometer, tachometers, and fuel gauges, and a color multi-function display. This 4.3 inch color display displays fuel economy, temperature, maintenance reminders, and rear vision camera functions. As you upgrade to higher-end models, you will start to notice that the Forester is equipped with many more convenience features not found in the comparably priced CR-V. Take the 2.5i Premium model compared to the 2015 CR-V EX. This 2015 Forester 2.5i Premium model is equipped with windshield wiper de-icer, heated exterior mirrors, roof rack; standard features in the Forester but not the CR-V. All Forester models are equipped with a 4-speaker CD audio system, with USB port/iPod® control, Bluetooth® audio streaming and hands-free phone controls, as well as a 3.5 mm auxiliary jack. Optional features are a voice-activated GPS navigation system as well as Harman Kardon® speakers.

Safety and Security

The 2015 Subaru Forester is equipped with a wide array of safety features, making it a great choice for families. Standard safety features include symmetrical all-wheel drive, Vehicle Dynamics Control (VDC), 4-wheel anti-lock braking system (ABS), Brake Assist, Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), rear-vision camera, driver's front and passenger airbags, driver's knee airbag, Subaru advanced frontal airbag system, side curtain airbags, seat-mounted front side-impact airbags, side-curtain airbags, rollover sensor (SRS), height and tilt adjustable front-seat head restraints, and an antitheft security system. While many of these features are available in the CR-V as well, they come at a higher overall vehicle price, not to mention the fact that the NHTSA awarded the 2015 Forester a 5 star front driver crash test rating, compared to a four star rating in the CR-V.
